WHERE DOES THE MONEY FOR TAILGATE COME FROM?
We rely on the participants of Tailgate Alaska to fund the event. The participants crowd fund the Tailgate private basecamp. 100% of proceeds go to putting everything together. This event is only possible because of the dedicated community that has been built up over ten years.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GET SPENT?
We’d like to shed some light on what it costs us to do Tailgate Alaska every year. Thompson Pass is public land, but we don’t get to use it for free. Every year we build our temporary city at the base of the Chugach mountains in the remote Alaskan wilderness which costs money in permitting, insurance, labor, equipment, services, and operations. We work with all sorts of partners - many from the local Alaskan community - to give Tailgaters the best experience possible. Allproceeds from the event go directly into making the best event possible for our participants.
DISCLAIMER: We are not the only parking lot in Thompson Pass. These mountains are accessible year round, without a ticket of any kind. Tickets to Tailgate do not represent a cost to access these amazing mountains (unless you consider the discounts you get with local operators).
